To the Campus Community:
I’m pleased to announce that Kari Osmond ’09, chief of staff to Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, has accepted our offer to return to TCNJ as our new Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations. Kari will begin in this position on March 24 and will report directly to me.
Since 2021, Kari has served as Rep. Watson Coleman’s lead advisor for all policy and political strategy while also overseeing all legislative, communications, and constituent services for the Congresswoman. Prior to her role as chief of staff, Kari served as the congresswoman’s campaign manager and deputy chief of staff, and has built strong working relationships across the New Jersey congressional delegation, the Governor’s office, and various state agencies and local municipal and county officials.
Kari launched her political career while still a student at TCNJ, interning for then-Assemblyman (now Trenton Mayor) Reed Gusciora. She subsequently served as his chief of staff for four years.
Kari has a deep understanding and appreciation of the role TCNJ plays not only for our students but for the state of New Jersey. She has worked across state and federal political offices representing the Ewing and Trenton communities and has an expansive network of strong relationships with government leaders. Her skill set, coupled with her genuine affection for our college and her enthusiastic approach to lobbying, will undoubtedly help us build a coalition to advocate on behalf of TCNJ as we continue to elevate our institutional profile across the state and the nation.
I would like to thank the members of the search committee for their work in identifying an exceptionally strong pool of candidates. I very much look forward to working with Kari and welcoming her back to her alma mater.
Warmly,

Michael
