To The Campus Community:

We achieved a major milestone yesterday with passage by the Board of Trustees of two documents: a framework for a collegewide strategic plan and a strategy for inclusive excellence. Collectively, they lay out an ambitious agenda for the next five years and represent the culmination of two major TCNJ goals. I invite you to familiarize yourself with both documents, which are linked below.

Transformation 2.0: Extending Our Excellence invests in and builds upon the strong foundation established by the academic transformation that occurred at TCNJ in the early 2000s and seeks to extend the high-quality education we offer to new audiences and in new directions. Work on an implementation plan will continue through the end of next month. It will include phasing, metrics and milestones, and strategic investments for the next five years. Our goal is to have the implementation plan prepared and ready for board endorsement at its June 28 meeting. We will continue to communicate about this work as it develops.

We Are TCNJ: A Strategy for Inclusive Excellence is a blueprint for fulfilling our commitment to make the college more diverse, equitable, and inclusive for all members of the community in their living, learning, and working environments. It challenges us to reflect these priorities in the students we enroll, the experiences we deliver, the communities we serve, and the policies we create. The strategy provides an appropriate level of accountability and reporting to ensure we achieve our goals.

The creation of these documents has involved the work of many across the campus. Their development is all the more remarkable given the challenges of the last two years. I give immense thanks to everyone who participated. For Transformation 2.0, that includes the members of the Strategy Working Group, led with poise and equanimity by Professor David Blake, and to the many who contributed to affiliated working teams and campus forums. For We Are TCNJ, I would like to recognize the leadership of Vice President James Felton and the efforts of the inclusive excellence steering committee. The college owes a particular debt of gratitude to those in our community who advocated and continue to advocate forcefully for the college to become truly diverse, inclusive, and equitable.
